The Correct Colour Scheme Is Very Important
Interior house painting comes with its share of challenges, not least of which is deciding which colour to go with. Do you choose something bold that makes a statement and makes that room really stand out? Or do you go with something more muted that offers a comforting mood and blends in well with more natural surroundings?
It’s up to you, of course, but Painterly want to make sure that you don’t regret your colour choice later. What seems like good idea at first may be something you wish you went a different way with later on. So, we are going to help you determine how to choose the most appropriate colour for your interior house painting project.
Matching Colours
One crucial part of picking a colour for your home’s interior that many people don’t think of until it is too late is how it will match with the rest of the room or the rest of the house. If all the furniture in the room is brown or gray, then it might not make sense to do the walls up in a bright colour. It may create a clash in the room that requires new furniture or new paint to reconcile. You have to think about how all the colours in the room will work together. That means you take into account the colours of the floor, carpet, clean, and anything that will be in the room. It doesn’t all have to be the same colour, but the large parts of the room should all have complementary colours.
You may also want to match the colours of one room with the colours of another room. You can have a common colour theme in your house or make each room boldly different. It’s up to you, but you should at least consider how the colour from each room impacts the entire mood of the house when compared against the colours of the other rooms.
Limiting Your Colour Scheme
You should also consider how many colours you have in same room. It may be a bold choice to paint each wall a different colour, but having more than a few primary colours in a single room can make for an unpleasant atmosphere. That gives your brain a lot to process and reconcile, and it may be better to stick with just two or three main colours.
When you use too many colours, you risk creating conflicting moods in the room, losing a theme and creating a level of discomfort for those that use that room.
The Painterly rule of thumb here is the simpler you make things, the better. Keep your colour scheme simple and you will likely be much happier with the results. You will also give yourself less work to do and have an easier time finding new items for the room that will match with the colours you have used.
Hopefully, these guidelines will help you to choose the right colour for your interior house painting project.
